Back to School
Health & Hygiene
B.C.V.O.W. has a goal of alleviating stress and supporting parents in their efforts to raise children who are healthy, happy, and ready to succeed in life. According to the Iowa Association of School Boards, approximately one of every four students in Butler County are from lower income families. We believe that all children should have an equal opportunity to be successful in school. That requires having the proper materials.
Children not only need school supplies, but they also need health and hygiene products. We work collaboratively with each school district in Butler County to make sure they have access to resources to be successful. Backpacks, notebooks, folders, school boxes, pencils, pens, glue, scissors, crayons, colored pencils, markers, flash drives, headphones, and calculators are on our supply list. Body wash, shampoo, combs, brushes, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, and head lice kits are all among the items children may need so they can show up “fresh” at school each day and be ready to learn without distractions that hygiene issues may create.
This school year, we have provided $7,500 in supplies to Butler County Schools and the Dumont Library.
Thank you to First Security Bank in Dumont, as well as many other organizations and people in our community for your contributions to this project.
